What A DAY!

For those who keep up on facebook, you know all this already. For everyone else, what a day I had. I got no sleep because every single child of mine woke me up for some reason or another about every two hours. I had recieved a nasty letter in the mail saying Katey had been declared truant from school, charges were being filed and I was responsible for any future court costs incurred. HUH? Tru-what? my AB student? She had missed three days ( one for a church retreat!!) and I had written excuses and called the attendace hotline. Anyway I wrote an ANGRY letter and called them about fifty times today. STILL don't know if they will remove the truancy charge. Crazy Californial laws!!! These days were in different months too. She is doing fair to very well in all her classes , so I was stunned. (no she is not skipping, I checked) I was shocked because the school had given me no notice prior to this summons. It might be a form letter but I was horrified. We think it is taken care of. My fire alarm went off early for no known reason. Is is now sitting on the stairs, unplugged. so sue me, i am guilty. (I left the upstairs one) kids were acting up and I had about fifty little kids in my yard. all 4 and under. Some parents can not understand the difference between asking to play and free babysitting. I do feel responsible for a 3/4 year old in my yard! All in all a very fustrating exhausting day. Hopefully my next post will be far more interesting and .... fun. Gonna relax with my new addiction. Pringles Dill flavor. oh. my. yummy. Happy times coming soon!!!

Mommy, I'm afraid!

Anyone who thinks that I have it easy, with the big girls watching the little ones at the park, think again! This is a typical afternoon for me...
Decide that Zoe has had enough tv and needs to go play outside. Bribe Katey to take her and Sophie to the park.
Zoe, screaming. Everyone has walked out of the door and she wanted to be first. 20 mintues of calming her down. Walk her to the park.
Zoe crying. She wants her bike out of the garage. Get bike, Change her into shoes and socks. Get helmet. Walk her to park.
Zoe crying. She is afraid of "the lady" at the park. walk her back. "The Lady" is just someones grandma pushing a little one on the swing.
Sit at computer. Type two words.
Zoe crying. She fell/was pushed/lost a ball/lost her bike/some kid was mean.Walk her back to the park.
Fold 1 t shirt and four socks.
Zoe back again. needs potty/drink/snack. Walk her back to the park.
start pulling stuff out for dinner.
Zoe yet again. She is afraid of the lady with the big tummy. Walk back to park. Lady is a very pretty and very pregnant woman sitting on the bench.
Start making dinner.
Here comes Zoe. She is afraid of Ethan. ( who on earth is Ethan?) Bring her inside and flip on tv.
Walk back to park to tell Katey she is inside.
lay on the couch to rest!
( oh yeah. Dinner. And wasn't I doing laundry? oops I was in the middle of a sentence on Facebook too!)

Earth Day

Ok so this is a glimpse into my family's interpretation of Recycling.
Lets just review,
Anyone who watches tv, knows the Three R's of Recycling.
Reduce
Reuse
Recycle
So, in our house
REDUCE
One child is reducing her water usage by: not showering, not doing laundry, not doing dishes , or brushing her teeth. Save our Planet!
REUSE
Another child is re-using her sisters shoes, shirts, socks etc because her own items are not clean/lost/etc. We love Mother Earth!
RECYCLE
Yet another child is recycling. She breaks into her sisters secret candy stashes. Eats all of it , then throws up on their bed. Recycle!!
Then there is the six year old who attended an exciting assembly on Earth day. Ok, we do recycle a lot in this house. However, I was in no way prepared for the recycle/earth day police
Turning off the Tv was fine, until Hannah Montanna was on.
Shutting off water while brushing teeth, great, till little sis spit toothpaste all over her arm (insert shrieks here)
Recycling plastic, foil, newspaper, great! We already do that.
Explaining to a determined six year old that we can NOT recycle tissues, not great.
So, also inform six year old that we can't recycle toilet paper. She looks at me and says ( in a tone I thought was reserved exclusively for my PMSing 14 year old), "MOM! I know that, that would be gross!!" Get reminded about 20 times that we can recycle batteries. I generously offer to recycle some wine, no one is amused. Somone spends a good amount of time in the bathroom, and proudly states how they recycled their dinner. Lovely. And last, but not least, I had
one child who decided to make up for the apperant lack of water useage and take a 40 minute shower.
Happy Earth Day Everyone!!

Easter

Hope everyone had a good Easter. I sure did! Despite being very very over tired ( I was up late the night before playing WII with the older girls) and the computer crashing, I had a good time. Uncle Ray came up and my friend Steph and her son came over and we laughed, talked, ate ourselves silly, and dealt with five over sugared, over excited, over tired kids. Thank goodness for that bouncy house! Sophie and Zoe were sound asleep by 6:45 that night! Uncle Ray and I stayed up with a fired and chatted. Of course I was up too late, again!! Tonight I am getting to bed early, I mean it! We just sat around today and ate leftovers, watched a couple of movies, took Uncle Ray to the train station and then I let the kids run around outside. Sure enough, little ones were passed out by 7 pm. yay! My kitchen is FINALLY clean, the back patio has been swept ( again!) and the living room no longer has an inch deep layer of peeps sugar. Now I have laundry mountain waiting for me and BED. I mean it! Pics coming soon.

Its better

Ok guys, I am slowly getting there. Trying to shake off this slump! I did get off my butt and clean the house, upstairs looks great! We had a trail of woodchips from the park going up the stairs. I want to say sorry Nicole and Jim!! I had NO clue that shower curtain was so moldy and gross. I about screamed when I saw it. How embarassing!!!! I have finally figured out how it got like that. Apperantly, my twelve year old is sure someone is hiding in the tub at night. She pulls it back and the yucky stuff gets stuck in there and.....just yucko! My solution? A $40 mold free curtain? Nope. the cheapos from the dollar store I toss when they get all nasty. At least I know why it was getting so moldy. And here I thought someone was gettting up early to shower! Hope everyone has a Happy Easter.....

Spring Fever

It has been gorgeous here in Cali lately! The weather has been warm and sunny and the kids play outside as long as they can every day. I love it, I pretty much feed em, bathe em, and put em to bed by 7:30! I set up our little bounce house yesterday and I swear Zoe didn't even roll over all night. I have been feeling bad about some choices I have made lately ( why oh WHY dont' I learn!!) but have decided to get it together. I am starting by cleaning the house from top to bottom....Spring Cleaning. I am talking weeding out junk, dusting ,scrubbing etc. I need to get back in the game with exercising and am already working on getting to bed on time. I have decided to give the cpap another try. I am exhuasted either way and that leads to my bad/sad mood and me making poor choices to "feel better'. Being sick for so long kinda got me down too. I did have a good time, but too much of a good thing is never good. I really need to focus on being a happier person, no matter what. I think that will help the kids too. So I am going to get a better perspective on life and just be glad for what I do have, and make the best out of every situation. I will exercise so I don't down my self with food guilt and lay off substances that are harmful to me. Nothing serious, but it could have been and I dont 'want to be THAT mom to my girls. I have several craft projects in mind and am gonna get the older girls involved in some of them. Coming soon is game night, beauty night, movie night, and dance party. ( the last one is a great workout for me too!) We also have WII day, trivia challenge and junk night. I am thinking of adding a scrap/craft night too and will IGNORE the mess it will make. I am planning several trips to San Diego, Annaheim, Legoland and the Grand Canyon. ( I might wait for Nick on the last one) I am pretty sure if I stay busy I will stay out of trouble ( grin) ! Whew, I feel a little better already, thanks for listening guys!
